Overview

"Unbroken" is a powerful short film that captures the essence of Puerto Rican identity through the lens of dance, music, and artistry. Set against the breathtaking landscapes of Puerto Rico, the film intertwines tradition and modernity, honoring the ancestral struggles while advocating for a vibrant future. Through the dance of a young girl, the film conveys a narrative of resilience, defiance, and connection to heritage amid the challenges faced by the Puerto Rican community and its patriots. Additionally, a documentary portion will showcase real-life efforts to combat displacement and highlight the ongoing work of community members and organizations.

    UNBROKEN is a short visual poem shot entirely in Puerto Rico, following a young dancer through three movements of memory, defiance, and reclamation. Set against the Puerto Rican landscape, the film moves through contemporary dance, salsa, and bomba to trace a single question: what does it mean to return your story to your own hands? Produced by Mi Patria PR, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving Puerto Rican cultural heritage and combating displacement across the island.
